I had the privileged to attend the 1:54 African Art Fair at Somerset House London a few weeks back. It has become a regular on the circuit over the last 5 years and shows the increasing interest, awareness and appreciation of African Art not just here in the UK, for the fair travels across the globe with this years fair off to Morocco in a months time, but also throughout the 'Western' world. With over 200 contributors this was a mammoth fair to go around. The colour, politics, mythology and personal stories lead to a dizzying array of wonderful exhibitions by the worlds best artists from the continent. Some of which are based in Europe and America but others 'studio' in the mega-cities and country villages or towns of countless countries in Africa. Their stories of love, nature, myth, politics, infrastructure issues, economic growth\destruction, war and loss, weddings etc. were an absolute joy and enlighten and enliven. If I were you I would do what I am going to do - put it in my new, crisp 2018 diary October = African Art Fair and keep it clear for at least 2 days!

As the nights draw in and the days get colder what better than to wrap yourself in an handmade jumper or wrap. Luckily those Peruvians have been making warm garments for thousands of years and have married beautiful and useful in their clothing. There is a wonderfully bedecked Peruvian clothing stall at the market this week which definitely worth a look.
Apart from all the lovely food there is a coffee stall selling a head spinning number of different coffees from across the world, look out for fair trade examples plus there cafetiere and coffee deal. Synthesis festival South Norwood At the Synthesis festival last week Gamma Proforma put at the disposal of a number of street artist including O2 walls across South Norwood for displaying their art. Walk up Portland Rd or around the clock tower to see their incredible art. Remember to visit their gallery in Portland Rd for information on other sites of Urban Art around the area. I loved going around them all and will be back soon to see completed work and will post an update and more photos.
